The mobile commerce landscape is always changing depending on what companies are taking advantage of trending technologies. When it comes to retail and the newest technology, Toys R Us is one company that has managed to carve itself a bit of a niche when it comes to online and mobile shopping. Whether talking about being a destination for some of the newest and neatest tech gadgets or just being a place where people are doing a lot more online shopping than foot traffic, Toys R Us has found a way to take advantage.
The company just announced a new endeavor that will allow its customers to save some serious cash thanks to mobile coupons that can be scanned and applied to sales whether in the checkout line or on the web. Mobile commerce has taken a couple of different looks over the last few years but it usually comes back to making sure that people can do as much online and mobile shopping as possible. These particular mobile coupons are being featured on the Us Weekly magazine’s mobile site.
“These new mobile ads are part of the overall marketing campaign for Toys “R” Us and they complement our desktop display ads, ”Meghan Kennedy, a spokeswoman for Toys “R” Us, said in a statement.
The coupons are located inside a banner on the magazine’s mobile site that implores visitors to tap on the banner. Once tapped, the banner expands into its own site where visitors can then browse through numerous offerings and deals. There is also a store locator function on the mobile site so people can find the closest brick and mortar location. When shopping at a physical location, the customers can display the coupons on their mobile devices at checkout. There are also promotional codes that can be entered when shopping online.
