T-Mobile Lets Customers Manage Funds with Mobile Money App

Money management on the go just got a whole lot easier with T-Mobile (News - Alert). Blackhawk Network, a leading prepaid payment network, recently announced that its technology powers T-Mobile's newest app, Mobile Money. Mobile Money allows T-mobile customers to manage their money directly from their smartphones, both for T-mobile account funds and a reloadable T-Mobile Visa card.

Talbott Roche, president of Blackhawk Network, explains why Blackhawk chose to join forces with T-mobile, noting, “The more connected the on-the-go consumer is, the more there's a need to have their finances and access to spending in a convenient place that's everywhere they are.” He goes on to say in the same statement that “with Mobile Money by T-Mobile, it's easier than ever for consumers to manage their spending all from their mobile device, while creating additional opportunities for engagement and future purchases for our retail partners.”

The Mobile Money app is a free download for T-Mobile subscribers, and includes several sweet benefits. After successfully registering their new Visa card, consumers can also deposit checks by simply taking pictures of them, pay various T-Mobile bills on multiple accounts, and even do one-click online shopping. Other features include card to card money transfer, one-touch access to bank accounts and access to over 42,000 surcharge-free ATMs nationwide

Apps like this emphasize an interconnected world that blurs the lines between Internet technology and the real world. Mobile technology like this stems from a need for consumers to be able to pay for the services offered by an “Internet of Things,” where regular appliances and devices connect to the Internet for improved functionality. These devices will appear in both the public and private realms of consumers' lives, and being able to manage finances in the thick of it is a godsend.
