We are seeing a new promotion for American Express. If you recall Isis, you will remember that it is the mobile commerce joint venture between rivals AT&T Mobility, Verizon (News - Alert) Wireless, and T-Mobile USA. For the next two and a half months, New York City cabs will hold something special for American Express (News - Alert) card holders.

Tap to pay technology is a feature that uses an embedded chip and antenna to ensure your payment details are transmitted safely and securely without your card leaving your hand. By using this feature American Express’ U.S. Consumer, OPEN (News - Alert) Small Business and Serve cardholders who have registered their card in the Isis mobile wallet will be able to benefit from this offer.

If you are a large company, it is easy to create loyalty programs. That has not always been the case with small businesses. This may be outmoded thinking. Technology has changed how small businesses build loyal customer bases with digital alternatives. Gone are the days of the old paper punch cards.

NCR Corporation is trying to help small businesses. The introduction of NCR Silver iPad point of sale could be a game changer. With the ability to easily create, run and manage reward programs company size is no longer an issue.

Word from Herzilya, Israel this week is that FTS (News - Alert) has launched a smart payment solution. The FTS Smart Payments Enabling Solution can help providers and merchants to go beyond the simple. It can rapidly develop new and creative customized plans for each of their partners and merchants.

Through the use of automation and communication, the goal is to deliver a more effective and easy solution for processing card payments. When you combine the easy to use graphical interface, well what more can I say?

A new report from Juniper Research sees contactless transactions almost reaching the 10 billion mark in just a couple of years. The report found that there are two key disruptive factors to reaching this number. First we have HCE (Host Card Emulation). The other factor is the anticipated launch of Apple (News - Alert)'s iWallet.

These are seen as the likely suspects to spur contactless growth in the medium term. However, the report warned that while the industry as a whole would receive a boost from these factors, network operators would lose out.

If you needed to go on a shopping spree (I let you be the judge about needing vs. wanting), would you be more or less likely to shop at a store providing you with applications? According to a new study, if you have a smartphone, then you would be in the more likely group.

It seems that these days about 80 percent of the respondents who participated in the survey believe that smart mobile devices have had a definite effect on the way that they shop. Almost everyone expects that they will be affected by next year.

These are just a few of the stories that we worked on this week. Believe me when I say that I cannot even begin to scratch the surface of everything that has been going on just this week alone. You will have to take some time and sort through all the information that we have for you. It is something that I suggest you do on a regular basis.
