I think that it goes without saying that everyone likes to see pictures instead of just a lot of words. The best business pictures are graphs. They seem to be everywhere. The use of graphs is becoming increasingly publicly recognized for their ability to solve a lot of seemingly intractable technology problems across a broad range of industries and use cases.

This week, two companies have embraced the use of a graph database. The solution that both eBay (News - Alert) and Walmart have opted to use is Neo Technology Graph’s Neo4j. Neo4j continues to see significant mainstream adoption. In fact, Neo4j is ranked as the most popular graph database available by database monitoring site DB-Engines.

If a weak authentication is used on their network, a European Central Bank ruling holds payment service providers liable for fraud. Once again we see that while convenience is a consideration, without security, it is not even considered.

Keeping these strict rules in mind, Poste Italiane, has implemented CA (News - Alert) Technologies' CA AuthMinder platform to provide authentication services for its mobile payment app. The PostePay allows customers to manage their accounts. PosteID uses one-time passwords, device-specific credentials and other out-of-band authentication to help verify PostePay users' identities and secure PostePay transactions.

NonProfitEasy is considered to be one of the leading all-in-one data management software platforms for small to mid-sized not-for-profits. It has several years of experience under its belt. This week it joined in a partnership with Bluefin Payment Systems, which is seen as the leading financial technology provider of cloud-based integrated payment solutions for independent software vendors.

Having had friends that worked and some that still do, work in not-for-profit organizations I know how difficult it is to keep operations running smoothly. That is why this collaboration is something that will definitely help resolve some of the challenges that they face in terms of technical and financial issues, especially those that involve online credit card payments.

Siemens (News - Alert) Convergence Creators’ next-generation mobile payment platform, walletXpress, version 2.1 offers subscribers a convenient and secure payment experience. IT also enables telecom service providers to increase their share of wallet through traditional and new vertical services, such as utility and e-commerce payment.

Early this week, Siemens announced that walletXpress has been certified as Oracle Database Ready. Siemens believes that this means that Siemens Convergence Creators has established a foundation for their application to efficiently run on and leverage the latest features in Oracle (News - Alert) Database.

Do you spend too much time in the morning at the coffee shop? I am not referring to making a decision on what you are going to drink that day. I’m talking about paying for your coffee, deciding on how much you are going to tip the person who yells your order out to the one who pours it for you.

I think that Starbucks does. That is why they will have a new enhanced version of their iPhone (News - Alert) app. In addition to the fact that you can find the location closest to you, check up on your reward status and link your Starbucks card to the app the new version will allow you to use a new Shake to Pay feature so that you can get through the line quicker.

This app will also allow you to tip digitally! If you already have the earlier version of the app you can simply do an update to get the new features. An android version of the updated app won’t be available until after the iPhone version comes out.

These are just a few of the stories that we worked on this week. Believe me when I say that I cannot even begin to scratch the surface of everything that has been going on just this week alone. You will have to take some time and sort through all the information that we have for you. It is something that I suggest you do on a regular basis.
