Mobile Commerce Insider Week in Review

If you want people to visit your stores and hopefully leave with a purchase or two, what do you think works better, easy or complicated? My shopping method tends to be, I know what I want, I know where it is, purchase made. If I have to take too much time trying to find what I want, chances are pretty good that I’ll just leave. It seems that Panera Bread may be visited by my clones. That is why they are hoping that a new mobile app will bring customers back through the doors.

I think that it is fair to say mobile commerce is not one of those concepts that were universally accepted when the first apps were being created. The thought of making personal, as well as financial information available on the Internet was anything but comfortable. A recent report from Juniper Research shows that in just a few short years the number of comfortable people will reach hundreds of millions.

I just love it when one report comes out saying “yes” and another follows the week after saying “no.” I have been reading a lot of reports stating that smartphones have just about reached their saturation point. Then that report is changed in a way that states that developed markets are beginning to see saturation while emerging markets are expected to see tremendous growth. It seems that now we have a report from IDC (News - Alert) telling us that smartphone sales continue to rise.

Do you like waiting on lines? One incredibly nice feature of mobile technology and mobile commerce in particular is that you are no longer restricted to being somewhere at a given time waiting in queue. Southwest Airlines is hoping that its mobile boarding passes will make it easier for domestic travelers to get through security lines.

As many problems has Bitcoin has had in the recent past, companies are still trying to embrace it as a form of payment. The latest company trying to make a go of it is called Server Farm Realty. Will it help if there were more Bitcoin banks on the Internet? How many companies will it take to make people feel comfortable enough to use this virtual currency?

These are just a few of the stories that we worked on this week. You can stay current by checking out entirety of these stories and many more by going to Mobile Commerce Insider and keeping an eye what is going on in the world of mobile commerce.
