Since January of 2012, Leading mobile commerce solution provider Bytemark has had a partnership with NY Waterway to provide the company with a mobile ticketing app. NY Waterway is the largest privately owned commuter ferry service in the country, boasting a fleet of 33 boats in the area surrounding New York City, and has sold more than 2 million tickets through Bytemark's app. The app has already been downloaded more than 190,000 times on iOS and Android (News - Alert) platforms, but a major upgrade to the system now adds Windows Phone to the party, as well as the ability for customers to buy and use tickets and monthly passes in mere seconds.
“Bytemark is thrilled to release Version 2.0 of the NY Waterway app” notes company CEO Micah Bergdale. “As the first mobile ticketing app ever created for a major U.S. transit agency, the NY Waterway app has been an integral part of Bytemark's mission to provide mobile ticketing technologies to transit industries worldwide.” Along with availability on Windows Phones, the new app also features an upgraded home screen and navigation interface, as well as access to schedules and tickets while the device is in offline mode.
Other new features coming to the updated Waterway App Version 2.0 are aimed at making the device easier for NY Waterway customers to understand and use, be they one-time riders or daily commuters. The redesigned ferry route map now uses an interactive interface to give accurate and up-to-date information on transportation schedules. Regular riders will also have the option to automatically renew their monthly passes, and access to their ticket history to easily repurchase tickets over and over again. For added security, the app even gives users the option to lock their account with a PIN passcode system.
