Magento, an open-source e-commerce Web application, has grown by leaps and bounds in recent years. More than 260,000 businesses now use the popular software, and that number of subscribers represents an increase of 60 percent over its usage in 2013.
Now, Warp 9 is continuing its support of Magento by creating a mobile commerce solutions group that will seek to improve the functionality of B2C and B2B brands that utilize the e-commerce software. In an announcement made last week, Warp 9 said its solutions group could help any business “rapidly extend its website to mobile devices, such as iPhone, iPad and Android.”
TMC (News - Alert) has reported previously on the state of Magento and its recent explosion in usage. Warp 9 alone has seen, just in the last year, a 60 percent quarter over quarter growth rate of Magento customers desiring to update their legacy e-commerce systems.
Now, Warp 9 is capitalizing on the growth by not only taking on customers that wish to upgrade their overall systems but by addressing the needs of mobile users. It says its research shows more than 85 percent of Magento customers do not currently have a mobile site, yet at the same time, analysts predict that global mobile usage will continue an upward trend through at least 2018.
With its new solutions group, Warp 9 says it is targeting both Magento Enterprise and Magento Community merchants. It will be able, the announcement states, to help such businesses easily transform the websites they have into mobile sites that cater to their customers that use smartphones and tablets. It says Warp 9 will include design, functionality, and customization in their mobile sites that meets the needs of every brand it services.
Warp 9 has said previously that Magento can easily service the needs of any size business. Its flexibility allows the software to cater to enterprises as large as those in the Fortune 500 and as small as locally-run operations.
