Mobile Commerce saw a lot of action this week.  As we start the last month of summer let’s see what news mobile commerce had to offer from the week.

T hese days, people are robbing banks less and hacking online accounts more.  To address this growing issue Wave Systems introduces virtual smart card 2.0. This solution is cheaper than using physical smart cards. 


Visa Inc. is creating new technology for payments.   Its new creation is called Visa Digital Solutions and it includes many tools and services that make transactions easier on mobile devices.  In these tools, Visa is offering three new payment methods and the article discusses what they are and how we can benefit from them. 

With Bitcoins growing popularity, they arrived in the news of Mobile Commerce may times this week.  In a step toward recognizing new technology, politicians can now accept Bitcoin donations.  This decision was made in May by the Federal Election Commision.  Political candidates will incorporate this in their fundraising efforts.  Further demonstrating Bitcoins growing power and influence in digital currency, Las Vegas has created a Bitcoin ATM.  People have varying views about this idea and wonder whether it will succeed. 

U.S. credit card companies are looking to support their customers as much as possible.  That is why they are moving toward adopting EMV chip technology.  Visa takes a step in this direction by recently giving FIME approval to perform Visa EMV Testing. 

Smartphones and tablets have been growing and will continue to grow over the years with the need to do as much as you can from anywhere.  These devices have the apps that allow you to do almost anything from gaming to mobile banking.  A new report predicts that by the end of 2018, the apps market will hit the $60 billion mark.  The report includes more about the mobile app market and who will be at the top in revenue.
