Mobile Commerce Insider Week in Review

As the mobile world is progressively expanding, there are new things to follow each day.  This week the topics range from more news on mobile payments, mobile shopping, and a partnership that wishes to take out Amazon.  It’s the perfect time to sit down with a coffee and look back at what Mobile Commerce had to offer this week. 

The companies offering a mobile wallet payment system are looking for new ways to advertise to the U.S. market.  NXT-ID is reaching out to the consumers through launching an advertising campaign on American Airlines.  They are specifically addressing some of the concerns that have been preventing them from growing in the U.S. market. 

Wal-Mart is the perfect example of a company that is losing sales in stores, but gaining some revenue in mobile purchases.  However, Wal-Mart might need to step up their game if they want to compete with Amazon.  They have suffered in sales for the last five quarters, and are looking at some ways to turn things around. 

Recently, there have been some issues with mobile shopping.  The Federal Trade Commission did a survey of 121 shopping apps and found a common theme, being that the apps not providing information about company privacy.  Along with discovering the problem, they suggested how companies can keep their customers informed. 

Recently The Mobile Commerce Index by Branding Brand mentioned a 97.6 percent increase between July 2014 and July 2013 of smartphone-generated traffic, orders, and revenue by consumers to retailer smartphone-optimized websites.

Amazon is the company that pretty much offers everything.  However, when purchasing books on Amazon, they are coming from Hachette.  The transaction is not simple, which is why Google (News - Alert) and Barnes & Noble partnered to beat out Amazon.  Amazon has control over about 50 percent of all books sales, but the partnership may change that.
