Research shows that mobile commerce is driving business sales and is expected to continue to rise and further surpass levels of PC-based shopping through at least the next few years. One mobile application development platform profiled this week was noted as able to provide businesses with a simple way to build mobile apps overall. Furthermore, its ability to sync with a well-known e-commerce platform allows businesses to easily take their sales to smartphone and tablets.

A profile at Promotion World suggests that BuildFire, a recently-launched platform for creating mobile applications, can boost businesses' sales by providing them with a direct path to online merchandising. BuildFire syncs with the Shopify e-commerce platform as a standard feature, so any business already working with Shopify on their online stores can easily transfer that information to their mobile apps. Ian Blair, co-founder of BuildFire, spoke about how his company's product can lead businesses toward increased sales.

"The BuildFire platform makes it incredibly easy for any business owner to create an app and jump into mobile commerce," Blair said. "By eliminating this barrier to entry, we're making it easier for businesses everywhere to boost sales and grow."

Nathan Keating, BuildFire's other co-founder, said businesses that do not build mobile sales problems could be making a "huge mistake." Research from across the globe points to evidence that suggests Keating could be right.

TMC (News - Alert) has shown that smartphone and tablet users were recently shown to make up 38 percent of all e-commerce website traffic in the first half of 2014. In addition, other research predicts that the mobile payments industry will grow to $117 billion by 2017 and that mobile payments are expected to make up more than three percent of global commerce by 2017.

Combine those figures with the statistic Promotion World points out that mobile users are spending over 2.5 hours each day on their mobile devices, and any business should realize that the potential for sales on mobile devices is currently huge and growing. Platforms such as BuildFire can make app creation easy, and for the businesses that already use Shopify, research and opinion suggests that businesses which pass up mobile sales opportunities may indeed be making a huge mistake.
