While Apple Pay is the mobile payment service that is getting all the press these days, there is an older service that just launched a new device that could be the difference maker in the mobile commerce sector. LoopPay is a mobile payment service that has already established itself as one that is accepted at more than 10 million merchants in the United States. Now the company has announced a brand new accessory called the LoopPay Card and CardCase that will make it that much easier for people to pay for their purchases using over-the-air payments.
LoopPay pointed out in a recent statement announcing the LoopPay Card that its service is actually accepted at more locations than Apple (News - Alert) Pay. To be exact, the company has said it is accepted at 40 times more places than Apple Pay. It should be pointed out that breaking into the mobile payment space was thought to be the biggest roadblock to success for Apple Pay by some rather big business mavens, such as the Pizza Hut CEO. With competitors like LoopPay out there, the Cupertino-based company has its work cut out.
While Apple Pay is still trying to get credit card companies and banks to embrace its new service, LoopPay boasts thousands of different bank and credit unions as well as several retailers. LoopPay says the card device can be used on the phone or slid out of the case in order to hand it to waiters or clerks rather than having to hand over the mobile phone. Whenever a purchase is made with LoopPay, the user’s phone will get a confirmation message. This also comes in handy if the user never intended to purchase something that suddenly showed up in the account.
The LoopPay CardCase can be purchased for $49.95 by users of the iPhone 5/5S, 6 and 6 Plus. Android (News - Alert) users can get their own standalone LoopPay Card device for $39.95. In addition, if customers buy these during November they will get a special $10 discount.
