Company officials said that by expanding the reach of its 19,000-mile nationwide network and establishing additional points of presence across the Seattle market, XO Communications is now able to serve thousands of new businesses and offer them a more competitive alternative for their local and nationwide communications and networking needs.
According to company officials, the expansion increases XO Communications' reach across the northern suburbs of Seattle in Everett, Kirkland and Bothell and adds to the company's already extensive Seattle network presence where its metro fiber network spans 200 route miles.
"At a time when many service providers are closing markets or scaling back operations, XO Communications is further expanding its network reach to serve more businesses," said Mitzi Sachs, general manager of the Seattle market for XO Communications, in a statement.
Sachs said that the company has seen increased demand for the services from multi-locations businesses in areas adjacent to the company's markets and have opted for a smart growth strategy through network expansion.
XO Communications, a subsidiary of XO Holdings (

Vitelity, a VoIP network provider, had
announced that it has selected XO Communications to provide dedicated long-haul network connectivity between Denver and Los Angeles. The 10 Gbps backbone will be the Denver-based company's first long-haul route to Los Angeles.
Vitelity also is upgrading its Denver metro network service with XO, moving to a 10 Gbps backbone.
Officials with XO said that the dedicated long-haul route between Denver and Los Angeles will allow Vitelity to connect its local-area network to its data center in Denver, providing Los Angeles customers with faster and more reliable service.
Once completed, Vitelity will cover nearly half the country with 10 Gbps network connectivity provided by XO.
