Welcome to the first edition of the Multi-Gigabit Ethernet Community Week in Review. In this community, we explore all things multi-gig Ethernet, which includes innovation, standards, alliances etc. to keep you in the Ethernet know. From infrastructure modernization and getting the most out your current copper deployment, to SDVoE we cover all the bases. And, with the weekend upon us, there’s no better time than the present to take a look at the week that was: Time for the Week in Review!

We opened the week with a visit from Aquantia President and CEO Faraj Aalaei. He sat down with TMC (News - Alert) at its most recent Editors Day Silicon Valley, where Aalaei outlined the “billion Ethernet port opportunity,” and how the time is now to strike. He noted, “If you think about Ethernet, it’s probably the most proliferated connector around the world,” and all those ports add up quickly. Find the complete article HERE.

Dell (News - Alert) EMC is a clear industry titan, and with that status comes privilege – i.e. its pick of the litter in terms of solution partners. Dell EMC ended its search for an open networking multi-gig switch partner, as it selected the Aquantia Multi-Gig AQrate PHY products for its N-series suite of open networking campus switches. Everything you need to know is HERE.

The SDVoE Alliance was created to develop an industry standard for the delivery of video. The AV industry is currently in a transitional phase, moving toward IP-based solutions, and with this transformation comes questions, confusions and a serious need for setting a standard for AV over Ethernet. All the details are HERE.

Many in technology claim to be the first, but in reality few truly are. This week, the community unveiled an actual industry first from the market leader in the Ethernet Physical Layer (PHY). Aquantia lifted the curtain on the first programmable FPGA-programmable multi-gigabit Ethernet PHY device: AQcite. Insight and analysis is HERE.

Remember to stop by early and often for all things multi-gig Ethernet. See you next week!
