Multi-gigabit Ethernet is not an option with today’s network demands. Our SaaS (News - Alert)-tastic world requires a modern infrastructure to support requirements, and when it comes to innovation, alliances and standards, we have you covered. With the weekend upon us, there’s no better time than the present to take a look at the week that was in Multi-gigabit Ethernet: Time for the Week in Review!

Leading off the week, Kansas City here I come, as Comcast (News - Alert) Business is now offering multi-gigabit Ethernet to Kansas City area business. The service provides firms with secure and scalable fiber-based connectivity; and the portfolio of offerings will include Ethernet Private Line, Ethernet Virtual Private Line, Ethernet Network Service and Ethernet Dedicated Internet with the likelihood of adding additional service over time. Michael Guta has everything you need to know HERE.

One of the reasons TMC (News - Alert) decided to create the multi-gigabit Ethernet community is because of the issue of standards, and this week, Tracey Schelmetic explored IEEE 802.3bz and how it can help alleviate bottlenecks. Schelmetic’s complete insight and analysis is HERE.

Also in the news, TMC’s Paula Bernier (News - Alert) provided a peek into CenturyLink’s new consolidated Ethernet effort. Revealed on a recent earning call, the plan is to move all of its Ethernet offerings from different platforms to a single Carrier 2.0-compliant platform. “We are not satisfied with these results and are making progress in a number of areas focused on continuing to improve our customer experience and further positioning CenturyLink for long-term growth,” explained CEO Glen F. Post III. Bernier brings all the details to bare HERE.

Mellanox (News - Alert) announced the arrival of the Innova IPsec Network Adapter this week, which provides improved throughput and processor utilization, while also allowing Mellanox to provide improved cryptography, speed and performance for end users. Steve Anderson’s entire report is HERE.

Remember to stop by early and often for all things multi-gig Ethernet. See you next week!
