We live in a multi-gigabit world, where the demands of content delivery and our SaaS (News - Alert)-tastic reality steer the networking ship. Modernizing a legacy deployment with multi-gigabit Ethernet means keeping up with the high-paced climate of today’s enterprise, and supporting mounting network requirements. With the weekend upon us, there’s no better time than the present to look back at the week that was in multi-gigabit Ethernet news: Time for the Week in Review!

Utah is home to the playoff bound Jazz, the Church of Ladder Day Saints, and CenturyLink’s (News - Alert) newest service offerings. CenturyLink announced this week that it is supporting more than 13,000 small and large business customers with its gigabit Ethernet. Jeremy Ferkin, vice president of Utah operations, CenturyLink, noted, “By offering fiber-ready services to multi-tenant unit office buildings across the state of Utah, we can more quickly connect our business customers to the power of the digital world and offer them access to the same blazing-fast gigabit service from CenturyLink that enterprises throughout the country already trust for affordable and scalable business solutions.” Complete coverage is HERE.

Sports stadiums are serving to illustrate the power of innovation. This season, the Atlanta Braves unveiled SunTrust Park, a state of the art baseball stadium. Comcast (News - Alert) utilized multi-gigabit Ethernet lines, 800 Wi-Fi access points inside the stadium as well as the more than 300 access points across the campus network to deliver nearly 8.5 terabytes of data over the past weekend. To put this in perspective, on opening night of the new digs, there was more Wi-Fi data per individual user than at Super Bowl 51. TMC’s (News - Alert) Frank Griffin has everything you need to know HERE.

Over-The-Top (OTT) services, the IoT and cloud computing are serving as primary drivers of the constant demand for more data at faster speeds. The result? Firms are finding ways to modernize network operations; where gigabit Ethernet was once satisfactory, today multi-gigabit is needed to support the trends at play. Thankfully, it’s a logical stepping stone for most organizations. TMC’s Laura Stotler explores the matter more HERE.

We’ve all heard the saying, “don’t reinvent the wheel.” At times, people assume a resolution to a problem needs to be complex, but when it comes to the LAN and deploying multi-gigabit Ethernet, the answer is much simpler than many realize. TMC’s Laura Stotler reveals how to avoid gigabit Ethernet congestion using NBAS-T to bridge the gap HERE.

Remember to stop by early and often for all things multi-gig Ethernet. See you next week!
