Businesses are in need of faster and more efficient networking in today’s bandwidth-hungry cloud-based services environment. The NBASE-T specification is making faster speeds a reality, enabling 2.5Gbps and 5Gbps speeds to run over organizations’ existing Cat5e and Cat6 cables. And Aquantia (News - Alert) is one of the first vendors to bring Multi-Gigabit-Ethernet products to market, offering chips that use active rate-adaptation technology to easily enable 2.5G and 5G speeds.

As a co-founder of the NBASE-T Alliance, Aquantia has been instrumental in bringing Multi-Gigabit-Ethernet to the masses. The company’s AQC107 and AQC108 take advantage of a small form factor to offer a single channel, single port solution. The AQC108 supports speeds of 1G, 2.5G and 5G, making it both versatile and scalable.

The chip has already been implemented by ASRock, a global manufacturer of motherboards. The company is using the chip on its Z270 SuperCarrier and Z270 Gaming i7 productions, designed to bring Multi-Gigabit-Ethernet to consumers. The company chose Aquantia’s NICs as they work with Cat5e cabling as well as older NBASE-T routers, switches and access points.

Dell EMC (News - Alert) Networking is also using Aquantia for its N-Series of Open Networking Campus Switches. The series is designed exclusively so that campuses can use their existing cabling to upgrade to 5G Ethernet. “Digital transformation and the increasing reliance on wireless networks creates a real need for next-generation network infrastructure,” said Jeffrey Baher, senior director, product and technical marketing, Dell (News - Alert) Networking. “Working with Aquantia, our goal is to help customers future proof investments by implementing higher-speed 2.5 and 5G multi-gig switch solutions with greater capabilities and confidence.”

Aquantia is also working with Arrow Electronics (News - Alert) as an additional channel to bring NBASE-T to consumers and businesses. Arrow is distributing the company’s solutions for data centers, enterprise infrastructure and client connectivity in the Americas and EMEA through the companies’ agreement.

“Aquantia is committed to advancing high-speed connectivity silicon by providing the highest performance, lowest power consumption and smallest footprint of any competing product available in the market,” said Kamal Dalmia, senior VP sales & marketing at Aquantia. “Arrow is one of the largest distributors worldwide serving more than 125,000 customers.  Our agreement with Arrow is a key part of our overall growth strategy.”
