Abaco Systems has introduced the GVC1000 graphics and vision system. This is an embedded solution suitable for a range of commercial and military applications.

The GVC10000 can be used for 360-degree situational awareness, advanced digital mapping, data-intensive intelligence, embedded training, reconnaissance applications (including IED detection, hyperspectral sensor fusion, synthetic aperture radar processing, and wide area persistent surveillance), and vision computing applications.

The product was unveiled this week at NVIDIA’s (News - Alert) GPU Technology Conference in San Jose, Calif. That makes sense since the GVC1000 is based on the NVIDIA Jetson TX2 supercomputer on a module.

This new graphics and vision system from Abaco Systems is rugged, features 1 + TeraFLOPS performance, and internal storage of up to 32 GBytes of NLC and 128 GBytes of SLC SSD. It includes two 10 gigabit Ethernet ports for camera inputs, two MilCAN/CAN ports through which to get vehicle data, and extended USB. It has a small form factor, at just 6 x 5 x 3 inches. And it weighs 5.5 pounds.

Abaco Systems, which has been around for more than three decades, says it has eliminated the challenges of integration with graphics and vision system. The recently announced Abaco ImageFlex toolkit, it explains, allows for rapid application development for the GVC1000. That toolkit includes a C API framework and allows for interoperability to CUDA and VisionWorks libraries.

“The GVC1000's combination of extreme graphics performance, rugged reliability, minimal size and weight, extensive and flexible connectivity, and powerful application development software is unique in the embedded computing industry,” said Mrinal Iyengar, vice president of product management at Abaco Systems. “It is the perfect response to the challenges our customers are facing.”
