As the analog world of yesteryear gives way to the digital era, the network is tasked with picking up the pieces. The cloud era coupled with applications delivery and support, as well as growing enterprise network demand in general are making it abundantly clear that we are living in a multi-gigabit world. Whether you’re a serious gamer, IT or OEM, you know that multi-gigabit Ethernet makes all the difference. So with the weekend upon us, there’s no better time than the present to look back at the week that was in multi-gigabit Ethernet news: Time for the Week in Review!

South Africa’s Duxbury Networking announced this week that the BridgeWave (News - Alert) Communications new Flex4G-5000 new E-band backhaul system is available to its customers. The solution aids in maintaining the multi-gigabit performance end users seek. “These ultra-high capacity systems boast increased system gain for the highest throughput at the longest distance. Each model offers operators an alternative to fiber in dense urban areas and provides public and private network operators with a backhaul system that quickly scales to meet future capacity requirements,” said Andy Robb, chief technology officer at Duxbury Networking. TMC’s (News - Alert) Michael Guta’s complete coverage is HERE.

The NBASE-T Alliance is successfully expanding the presence of multi-gigabit Ethernet solutions, in addition to adoption. From standards to partnerships it serves as a solid base for the industry. This week, NBASE-T founding member, Aquantia, and Microsemi (News - Alert) announced the arrival of a new optimized multi-gigabit Ethernet solution. TMC’s Alicia Young offers complete insight and analysis HERE.

Digital transformation is touching all aspects of industry through innovation in technology. Multi-gigabit Ethernet supports the new generation of applications at hand. Case in point, this week Abaco Systems introduced the GVC1000 graphics and vision system, an embedded solution for both military and commercial applications. “The GVC1000's combination of extreme graphics performance, rugged reliability, minimal size and weight, extensive and flexible connectivity, and powerful application development software is unique in the embedded computing industry,” said Mrinal Iyengar, vice president of product management at Abaco Systems. “It is the perfect response to the challenges our customers are facing.” TMC’s Paula Bernier (News - Alert) brings you all the details HERE.

So you have gigabit Ethernet. Things are ok, but network bottlenecks and some lagging performance have forced you to ask the question: Is it worth upgrading to 2.5 or 5 gigabit Ethernet? The short answer is a resounding yes. Find the long answer and reasons why HERE.

Remember to stop by early and often for all things multi-gigabit Ethernet. See you next week!
