Business moves at the speed of the network. The cutthroat and competitive nature of much of today’s business landscape offers little margin for delay. Demands are driving network modernization, namely a shift toward multi-gigabit Ethernet to support our SaaStastic digital era. And, with the weekend upon us, there’s no better time than the present to take a look back at the week that was in multi-gigabit Ethernet news: Time for the Week in Review!

It is always important to get the most from one’s technology investments, one firm empowering investment ROI and network modernization is Xilinx (News - Alert). This week, the firm announced the integration of its 56-Gbps PAM4 transceiver technology with its UltraScale+ FPGAs to ensure high-speed transmission in interconnects, optics and backplanes. TMC’s (News - Alert) Frank Griffin gets into all the details HERE.

The Dell’ (News - Alert)Oro Group estimates that over the next five years, there will be over 700 million Power over Ethernet (PoE) switch ports shipped, with nearly 300 million ending up in the hands of consumers. While these numbers are encouraging, these devices must be interoperable, for this reason, the Ethernet Alliance (News - Alert) launched the Ethernet certification program that will certify PoE products meet the IEEE’s 802.3 PoE standards. TMC’s Paula Bernier brings you everything you need to know HERE.

Ok, you’ve modernized your network, all systems are go, firing on all cylinders if you will. But what about electrostatic discharge? Semtech Corp. (News - Alert) released the RClamp0532T to protect multi-gigabit Ethernet data center and telecom applications. “With the need for increased bandwidth in data centers and telecommunications, high-performance [electrostatic discharge] protection has become increasingly critical to safeguarding multi-gigabit Ethernet lines from ESD spikes to ensure round the clock operation,” Rich Hansen, senior director of product marketing for Semtech’s protection products group, commented. TMC’s Paula Bernier offers complete insight and analysis HERE.

Also in the news this week, NETGEAR expanded its 300 series of Gigabit Ethernet switches. In specific, NETGEAR’s GS300 “Business Essentials” Series Gigabit Ethernet Unmanaged Switches have been enhanced, now offering users to increase connectivity with plug-and-play capability of up to 48 ports. “NETGEAR understands the importance of providing a high-performance network that can adapt to requirements now and in the future. Many growing businesses, and certainly home offices, don’t have a dedicated IT specialist so there is a need for a solution that makes it supremely easy to add more connections and support new PoE devices,” said Richard Jonker, vice president of product line management for SMB products at NETGEAR. TMC’s Michael Guta entire article is HERE.

Remember to stop by early and often for all things multi-gigabit Ethernet. See you next week!
