Network requirements are growing at a rapid rate. Thanks to a growing IoT presence, our SaaSy reality and digital transformation (in general), more is demanded of networks than ever before. This is driving a movement toward network modernization and multi-gigabit Ethernet. And, with the weekend upon us, there’s no better time than the present to take a look back at the week that was in multi-gigabit Ethernet news: Time for the Week in Review!

Asus led the news this week with the unveiling of a new GbE card. Designed for higher end gaming desktops, it supports 100 mbps as well as 1,2.5, 5 and gbps over RJ45 connectors over Cat5e/Cat6 cables, and it is compatible with PCs running Microsoft Windows 7 or higher in addition to Linux and a modern PC with a PCle 3.0 x 4 slot free. TMC’s (News - Alert) Paula Bernier has everything you need to know HERE.

Spirent (News - Alert) completed the largest 100G Ethernet switch test in industry history this week. The test was moderated by independent test lab Network Test, with the primary goal of testing the line-rate forwarding and hyperscale IP route announcement capacity of New H3C Group’s S12500X-AF. The results and more are HERE.

Equus announced a number of new servers based on the Intel Xeon Processor (News - Alert) Scalable Family – Purley. The release includes four high-powered offerings ready to address storage, security, network, memory and compute. "We look forward to helping resellers, software vendors, and service providers understand how to leverage this new technology in their business and realize tangible benefits from these new Intel CPUs using our custom cost-effective solutions," noted Costa Hasapopoulos, president of Equus Compute Solutions (News - Alert). Complete coverage is HERE.

This week, Microsemi (News - Alert) announced that it has started sending engineering samples of the PolarFire mid-range field programmable gate arrays (FPGA). The PolarFire Evaluation Kit also came as part of the announcement to round out the portfolio. “After successfully shipping initial ES devices and hardware kits in February to our early access and select Tier 1 customers for system integration and advanced evaluation, we are pleased to reach another key milestone in the PolarFire family rollout by making ES and a high-performance evaluation platform available to our broader customer base,” said Shakeel Peera, senior director of SoC product marketing at Microsemi. All the details are HERE.

Remember to stop by early and often for all things multi-gigabit Ethernet. See you next week!
