The need for speed is a popular request in the modern network. Bandwidth (News - Alert) heavy applications require more from the network, cloud-based applications and our SaaSy reality is driving change to meet this unquenchable thirst. While many enterprises balk at the cost of a complete network overhaul, multi-gigabit Ethernet is a popular first step in network modernization to support our digital era. And, the era of the billion Ethernet port opportunity is upon us.

With the uptick in network expectations, comes increased performance demand for devices. Aquantia and Dell (News - Alert) have partnered to move beyond antiquated PC systems, to offer multi-gigabit capabilities for Dell’s OptiPlex 7050 series. This will be the first group of PCs to ship with the AQtion AQN-108 5 Gigabit Ethernet Interface Card (NIC (News - Alert)) as an option when ordering.

What can users expect as a result? For starters, once one opens a conferencing session the benefits should jump off the screen. Data intensive workloads will no longer be a time consuming struggle. Collaboration won’t be a conundrum, as with multi-gigabit NIC in place communications will be improved, and real time will actually mean real time.

“The explosion of PC Multi-Gig capabilities into the client connectivity space is being led by innovative industry leaders like Dell,” said Kamal Dalmia, senior vice president of marketing and sales at Aquantia (News - Alert). “Aquantia and Dell recognize that each business is unique in its connectivity profile – and we are pleased to offer a choice that can help any enterprise meet its business objectives.”

Aquantia is no stranger to leading the way with innovation. As a founding member of the NBASE-T alliance, the firm is a pioneer in the multi-gigabit Ethernet era. And announcements like this further plant the firm’s flag as market leader.
