Process operations solutions providers give customers the tools to make their organization as efficient as possible. Every industry can use this expertise to increase output, lower energy use, improve safety and lower overall operational costs across the board. The new DeltaV Version 12 process automation system from Emerson (News - Alert) Process Management is designed to increase flexibility, security, predictability, operating costs and simplify the complexity associated with operations.

The Version 12 gives customers more functionality including the SIS (safety instrumented systems) that is part of the DeltaV system. The new system has lower profile to save space during installation, simplifying the wiring and commission of SIS projects and lowering footprint. This is possible through HCD (human centered design) principles with a logic solver architecture using Electronic Marshalling and CHARM (characterization module) technology, eliminating conventional marshalling.

The v12 platform is part of an integrated virtualization technology allowing user to merge different computer resources. The DeltaV has a Virtual Studio with tools to create virtual DeltaV systems from preconfigured virtual networks and templates. All of the new options come with a new Smart Firewall product that gives users highly effective security protection measures without the need of security experts. The firewall can set up a network for the automation system with safety and security as well as lock down the system if there is unauthorized access or downloads.

The analytics tools gives process industries that produce in batches real-time quality predictions while these batches are in process. This method gives manufacturers the ability to track defective products, find out the cause and fix the problem before countless substandard products are manufactured. The system is part of Emerson’s focus on HCDs, which gives operators the tools to make decisions quickly by making problems more recognizable. The sooner a problem is recognized the sooner the operator will be able to respond and put into action control solutions.
