GFI Software launched VIPRE Antivirus 2013 and VIPRE Internet Security 2013 easy-to-install-and-use antivirus products.

The products are advanced versions that are based on VIPRE’s detection capabilities with reduced impact on PC performance. The solutions safeguard computers from malware besides detecting and treating vulnerabilities when they occur.

“The updates we’ve made to VIPRE 2013 enhance what the product has always delivered – simplicity and effectiveness,” said Mark Patton (News - Alert), general manager of the Security Business Unit, GFI Software.

Most Internet users do not have the time or inclination to manage AV software or third-party software but they prefer a product that is easy to install and which offers maximum protection against threats. They also require an antivirus that will not affect a PC’s performance making it slow down.

VIPRE 2013 will cater to these needs as GFI has introduced VIPRE Easy Install feature which searches for other antivirus products and removes them completely enabling smooth installation. Usually pre-installed AV solutions or fragments of earlier AV programs tend to create conflicts and installation problems for consumers.

Third-party software products are easily affected by malware and other viruses. In VIPRE Internet Security 2013, GFI has added VIPRE Easy Update feature which automatically locates and applies updates to out-of-date software. Also, VIPRE tests if Windows updating system is configured properly and if not corrects it, explained officials.

VIPRE Antivirus 2013 and VIPRE Internet Security 2013 also feature VIPRE Rapid Scan which hastens scanning processes after the initial VIPRE scan. The included anti-rootkit technologies helps detect and disable malicious hidden processes, threats, modules, services, and other files on user systems.

The antivirus automatically scan USB sticks, CD/DVD-ROMS and external hard drives for threats to eliminate them. They also safeguard a system against e-mail viruses, with direct support for Microsoft (News - Alert) Outlook, Outlook Express, Windows Mail and any other programs based on POP3 or SMTP. The antivirus also checks e-mails for phishing links and instantly blocks access thereby optimizing protection.

Recently, GFI unveiled VIPRE 6.0 SDK for Windows environments. The new advanced security features can be integrated into product offerings or custom applications by software developers, PC utility providers and other security vendors.
