SolarWinds (News - Alert) recently announced the upcoming release of the latest version of its IP Address Manager (IPAM). The new version has been designed to include a number of feature enhancements capable of providing IT professionals with new choice within the DDI market.

In a statement, Sanjay Castelino, VP, and market leader, SolarWinds said that, "Appliance-based DDI solutions like Infoblox (News - Alert) are costly, time-intensive and require a 'rip and replace' approach to existing infrastructure that budget-conscious enterprises are just not willing to undertake. SolarWinds is delivering IT pros a better DDI management option – an extension of best-in-class IP infrastructure plus centralized management at a fraction of the price."

The management of IP infrastructure is essential to ensuring network availability and performance in light of BYOD devices proliferation on the network and the shift to IPv6 – this presents a number of challenges for IT professionals.

The latest version of IPAM from SolarWinds comes with feature-rich IP address management capabilities, capable of providing support for Microsoft DHCP and DNS management, Cisco (News - Alert) DHCP management, and Cisco Adaptive Security Appliances (ASA).

It also offers easy coupling with a number of SolarWinds IT management products.

IT professionals will be able to better manage their IP infrastructure via a centralized view, because of the integration of IP address management with DHCP/DNS management and monitoring. The result will be improved network security and substantial reductions in network downtime, which arises due to IP address conflicts, enhanced efficiency as duplicate efforts in IP administration are effectively mitigated, as well as better regulatory compliance via the advanced tracking and event recording of IP-related activities.

Highlighting features of the latest version of IPAM include easy management of the complete IP infrastructure from one  intuitive Web console; tightly integrated Microsoft (News - Alert) DHCP and DNS and Cisco DHCP management and monitoring; improved visibility into IP address space usage via real-time views and historical tracking; faster troubleshooting of IP address issues via a unified, at-a-glance dashboard; easy to deploy as a standalone application; and expanded IPAM view with SolarWinds' product integration.
