Managing today’s dynamic IT environment requires software tools that can scale, provide high availability and ensure your business continuity. Network management solutions effectively run the IT infrastructure of businesses today. Here are the top stories this week in the network management space.

The data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools of today are not just green initiatives like DCIM of yore. DCIM today includes not just energy management, but also physical infrastructure management, facilities management and systems management wrapped into a single, integrated product. ManageEngine, a division of Zoho (News - Alert) Corporation, has addressed the need for holistic DCIM with its IT360 solution. IT360 combines virtual and physical server and network monitoring, end user experience and application performance management, CMDB 7 IT asset management, and now multivendor storage area network (SAN) and network-attached-storage (NAS) management.

Napatech (News - Alert), a vendor of intelligent adapters for network monitoring and analysis, reached a significant milestone in its testing of a Dell (News - Alert) PowerEdge R720 rack server, hitting 100 Gbps throughput. In other words, this makes the PowerEdge R720 an excellent choice for OEM vendors with network appliances that need to analyze up to 10 ports at speeds of 10 Gbps.

Since Napatech is an OEM provider, it is important that its products can operate efficiently. As such, the company commonly tests intelligent adapters in the latest available servers in order to rule out any issues related to compatibility or performance. It was because of these testing practices that Napatech was able to hit such a high throughput with Dell's PowerEdge servers.

Radware will provide its Attack Mitigation System (AMS) to safeguard against emerging network security threats for a national mobile communications carrier in the United States. A provider of application delivery and application security solutions for virtual and cloud data centers, Radware will help the customer secure Internet access and mitigate DoS based attacks on internal customer-facing networks in multiple locations.

Xirrus, a provider of high-performance wireless networks, is licensing Vineyard's Network Application Visibility Library (NAVL) Layer 7 Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) and application classification technology. With Xirrus Application Control, customers get visibility into applications running over their networks. It also ensures the performance of important applications and limits the bandwidth available to recreational applications.

Teliphone has successfully completed an asset purchase agreement through an acquisition corporation for the core assets, operations and network of Navigata Communications 2009. The acquisition company, which is a wholly owned subsidiary of Teliphone, is expected to carry out operations under the trade name, Teliphone Navigata-Westel.

Canada-based telecommunications provider Videotron (News - Alert) has upgraded its current TOMS (Telecom Operations and Management Solution) software to the latest NetCracker Technology release. This upgrade will help Videotron enhance its network mapping capabilities and the utilization of network resources, such as physical assets and logical connections. The new functionality enhancement is expected to improve operational efficiency cost-effectively in maintaining Videotron’s network.
