Data migration processes are not always a walk in the park. They fail many times, and since they deal with valuable data, failure can be costly, laborious and it can also cause a dent in the image of a company.

Cirrus Data Solutions has unveiled a product named DMS (Data Migration Server). According to the company, this new product takes care of one of the biggest problems faced by companies during data migration: downtime. This new DMS appliance provides total transparency, which means a company does not have to make any changes to its current environment.

Cirrus Data Solutions has announced that the company’s DMS product reduces time and expenses involved in the process of data migration.

In spite of various challenges associated with data migration, companies cannot live without it. As more profitable and easy to work with data storage methods are introduced, it becomes makes sense to migrate to these new data storage processes.

“We are excited to release DMS as the first of a number of products based on the TDI (News - Alert) technology that will significantly improve the migration process and will soon lead to dynamic caching solutions,” said Paul Bjorndahl, Director of Sales and Marketing at CDS. “Our goal is to take the pain points out of the process and potentially save companies with production migration projects, hundreds of thousands of dollars.”

In August 2012, the company announced that it received a new patent for "systems and methods for intercepting data relating to storage volume access." In simple terms, the technology mentioned in this patent helps a device to identify target worldwide port name of a target port. The company had filed the application for this patent in Dec. 2011.
