This week we have seen how companies are improving their security measures to accommodate every changing platform in 2013.

Network management can be easier if it is all done at a one-stop shop, and GENBAND’s GENView Manager is just the place to go. The GENView Manager provides one standard method to manage all regular maintenance activities across all the network elements, and offers high level of customization through XML configuration files and open APIs to tailor management applications quickly.

To protect the newfound software for network management, QuorumSoft released Alike v2.6, a backup and disaster recovery solution, which is expected to deliver new local and offsite recovery features that will protect users' valuable information. It will help to recover running virtual machines and new ways to ensure data integrity. With faster Q-Hybrid backups, strain on storage capacity is reduced, ultimately improving overall performance.

Another form of protection that is being developed is password management. With so much crucial information being stored in digital space, increased security to protect users from invasion is in high demands and we see this week that companies are beginning to incorporate new measures. Nova, Iceland’s first 3G mobile network service provider, was facing a password management issue, turned to a ManageEngine’s Password Manager for the protection of its private information. Each week we are seeing companies take the issue of password security more seriously.

All these advances in network management bring to light how most users take the accessibility and speed of the Internet for granted. This week, Network Neutrality was given thanks for its dedication to preserve the free and open Internet. Net Neutrality means Internet service providers may not discriminate between different kinds of content and applications online, and it is the reason every website we visit works, like Twitter, YouTube (News - Alert) and the NYT, with the same speed and quality.

Stay tuned to the network management community to discover the new trends and latest developments for 2013.
