MontaVista (News - Alert) Software has rolled out its next-generation platform, MontaVista Carrier Grade Edition 7 (CGE 7), for multi-architecture virtualization and abstraction for the Network Infrastructure Market.
Backed with services delivered by MontaVista's world-class Engineering Services group, MontaVista's CGE7 helps customers in building solutions to support their specific use cases, such as portability of legacy applications to scalable KVM implementations with real-time performance.
Apart from these, the Engineering Services group can build out a full test and validation process, and a long-term support and maintenance strategy to suit the requirements of any deployment strategy.
According to the company, MontaVista’s CGE 7 is intended to meet the demands of the virtualized network, while offering application portability, dynamic configuration, and real-time performance in a single platform. These new features enable providers of Next-Generation Networks to handle the explosive growth and increase in traffic, specifically with the rapid adoption of cloud technology and the growth of multimedia and video-based content.
“CGE 7 contains new features along with many updated packages that help companies deliver the next generation of applications that satisfy the need for higher utilization of equipment and the dynamic network architectures that define today's cloud based solutions in a high availability network," said Patrick MacCartee, Director of Marketing for MontaVista. "Improving the deterministic and real-time capabilities of KVM makes performance of the environments more predictable and reliable."
MontaVista CGE 7 is compliant to the Yocto v1.2 specification. Other specifications MontaVista includes for the network infrastructure market in CGE 7 are: CGL 5.0, LSB 4.1, and IPv6 Certification Readiness.
Company officials said they are currently working with strategic customers on an early access program, and CGE 7 will be generally available in Q2 2013.
