Array Networks (News - Alert) has been placed in the “Magic Quadrant” for WAN Optimization Controllers for 2013 by Gartner (News - Alert). The aCelera WAN optimization controller was recognized by Gartner for providing improved efficiency and secure features for cloud and enterprise applications with control, scalability, visibility, and excellent price points.
The vendor placed aCelera based on its traffic management, generic protocol acceleration, and protocol-specific optimization capabilities. The vendors had to have global installations and support capability.
The aCelera WAN optimization controller product suite is available for enterprise, service providers, and public sector organizations, with end-to-end performance for applications, e-mails, file shares, voice, video, and web content. The platform is available as a hardware appliance or as a software solution for Windows Server, as well as VMware ESX/ESXi, Microsoft (News - Alert) Hyper-V, and Citrix XenServer for data centers, cloud or virtualized environments.
"Array’s new aCelera product line aligns perfectly with our focus on cloud and mobility and complements our APV Series ADCs for cost-effectively improving the efficiency of data transferred across networks and providing a seamless end-user experience," said Michael Zhao, president and CEO of Array Networks.
The growth of mobile and cloud computing will require WAN optimization in order to cost effectively scale high-level application performance to a level suitable for the large amounts of data being moved on networks.
Deployed at the edge of corporate networks and public and private clouds, WAN optimization uses compression, caching, protocol optimization, and application blueprints to increase the transmission of data over wide area networks and reduce bandwidth costs. It provides LAN-like speed for sites that are geographically scattered by accelerating application performance for any type of traffic with cost-effective connectivity.
One of the distinguishing qualities of the platform is the price-points it provides for budget conscious organizations and the support it provides for its many different functionalities including compression, Common Internet File System (CIFS), de-duplication, HTTP, MAPI optimization, and TCP.
"We are pleased that Gartner has acknowledged Array Networks as a key player in the WAN optimization market. Gartner makes it clear that aCelera’s price point and strength of features give us a competitive advantage, confirming to current and prospective customers that Array is an option they should strongly consider when seeking a WAN Optimization controller," said Michael Zhao, president and CEO of Array Networks.
