In an effort improve employee collaboration and productivity, cloud time tracking application provider Replicon has deployed Aryaka’s (News - Alert) WAN optimization-as-a-service.

Replicon, which has over 1.5 million users in 70 countries, needed reliable communication between its more than 360 employees spread across five locations worldwide. In addition to the company’s headquarters in San Mateo, Calif., Replicon has two offices in Bangalore, India, one in Calgary and another in Toronto. Before deploying Aryaka, Replicon was using a virtual private network (VPN) to collaborate across its offices on applications such as version control, file transfers and voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP). However, the link between certain offices was suffering from periodic latency, capacity and reliability issues that were impacting employee productivity, according to Suresh Kuppahally, senior vice president at Replicon.

“Prior to deploying Aryaka, employee productivity while using public networks was hindered. In addition, applications such as CIFS, HTTP, HTTPS and RDP were often slow,” Kuppahally said in a statement. “With Aryaka, we’ve realized 10 times the improvement in file transfer performance and faster SVN.”

Replicon chose Aryaka for its performance, faster deployment and flexibility and has experienced a 300 to 500 percent improvement in application performance, according to Kuppahally.

Due to the increasing demand for the company’s cloud time tracking applications and traction among global enterprise customers in particular, Replicon is rapidly growing and expects to surpass more than 400 employees worldwide and expand into two new international markets before the end of 2013.

 Aryaka’s WAN optimization as-a-service solution provides a dedicated core network with built-in diversity and redundancy based on globally distributed points of presence (POPs), coupled with cloud-based technology. With Aryaka’s multi-segment solution, POPs are located near end-user locations, which translates into far fewer congestion problems in “the middle mile” than Internet VPN solutions, and better application performance when congestion occurs at the first or last mile versus an appliance solution.

Aryaka offers the following benefits to Replicon: 48 percent data reduction for File Transfer Protocol (FTP); 10X LAN throughput; and 3X to 5X application performance improvement.
