ManageEngine Adds Enterprise Search to IT360 10.0 IT Management Tool

Consumers are more than happy with Google (News - Alert) or Bing for search. But enterprise search is different. Here you’re searching your own apps, and the data formats are quite a bit different from HTML.


Dedicated tools rule the enterprise search roost. Now ManageEngine (News - Alert) is entering the fray with a new tool so tightly integrated with its IT360 IT management tool that it is actually part of it. The tool can query against business apps as well as IT management tools’ databases – so IT can do some deep sleuthing.

“Enterprise search helps IT teams take fast, informed action by providing a unified search console to search for any asset or keyword across third-party vendors' applications - without requiring users to program SQL queries or understand database schemas or structures,” the company said.

IT360 10 not only now has search, but application monitoring, project management, IP address management, switch-port mapping and unified discovery and configuration of devices on the network.

IT360 already included database performance, network performance, server and application performance, and end-user experience management.

“Now more than ever, IT departments need a single pane of glass that IT360 provides them to manage their entire IT infrastructure,” said Sridhar Iyengar, vice president of product management at ManageEngine. “The latest version of IT360 builds out our unified IT management vision with industry-leading features such as enterprise search and unified discovery and other functions that reduce operating costs while providing deeper, real-time visibility into the entire IT infrastructure from a single console.”

One current IT360 customer is ready for the new features, especially unified discovery. “We have a huge infrastructure spread across several locations. Being able to capture all of our systems automatically rather than relying on an import of a CSV file will greatly ease the administrative overhead. Our company is growing through acquisition, so the auto-discovery feature will greatly streamline adding all of the devices of the new companies we are adding,” said Jason Beckett, enterprise system administrator at Prime Healthcare Services.
