Alaskan Resort Improves Guest Satisfaction with Motorola WLAN Deployment

Alyeska Resort, a ski resort located in Alaska, has deployed high-speed Wi-Fi guest access in all its guest rooms and public areas using Motorola (News - Alert) Solutions’ wireless local area network (WLAN) components.

Martin Cassens, director of information technology at Alyeska said, “Before we implemented Motorola Solutions’ WLAN technology, everyone was talking about the lack of wireless connectivity in the guest rooms. Now, no one is talking about it.”

“Not only does it work flawlessly, but we can also guarantee that all guests will have the bandwidth required for a superior wireless experience, regardless of whether they are in the lobby or in their rooms, how many devices are in use in each room — or how many devices are on the network,” Cassens added.

According to officials the high-speed wireless service cost-effectively enhanced connectivity throughout the resort and is highly reliable in catering to guest requirements. The Motorola T5 Wi-Fi over VDSL2 system has improved the Wi-Fi service in addition to decreasing wireless network management time for hotel staff.

The Motorola T5 system enables the resort management to offer high-speed wall-to-wall Wi-Fi coverage to every guest room in the Alyeska Resort. The high bandwidth delivers optimum wireless performance even if several devices are logged into the Wi-Fi system in the guest room or on the hotel premises.

The VDSL2 architecture leverages existing telephone wiring besides being compatible with the existing telephony and data network equipment. This has helped streamline deployment, added officials.

The T5 Wi-Fi over VDSL2 solution has also improved staff productivity and enhanced customer satisfaction. The T5 provides in-room wireless coverage and blends with the room décor.

Recently Motorola Solutions announced that it has won three renowned iF product design awards for 2014. The MC40 handheld mobile computer, MP6000 multi-plane scanner/scale and TLKR series radios were recognized out of more than 3,245 entries submitted in this year’s competition.
