It was a busy week in the Network Packet Broker sector. Here are some of the major stories from TMCnet.
NetApp has teamed up with nPulse Technologies to provide a packet capture solution for large enterprises. It keeps networks protected while handling vast amounts of data in real time. It is believed to be setting new records for speed of capture and scalability of storage.
In another story, VSS Monitoring's vBroker Series of network packet brokers (NPB) provides businesses of all sizes with network wide visibility by accessing, capturing and brokering traffic from full-duplex networks to numerous monitoring and security tools. The vBroker Series is currently offered in the 200 family and the 300 family. The latter is ideal for larger companies with more demanding networks, while the former offers greater flexibility for small- to medium-sized businesses, as it is fully modular and scalable.
TMCnet also reported that
Another TMCnet report said that Tim Horton Children’s Foundation has selected OpenDNS Enterprise to stop malware and offer improved network security. OpenDNS Enterprise is the only enterprise-grade security solution to offer inspection, filtering, protection and reporting on all DNS traffic entering and exiting a network. Users can not only block malware on their networks, but can track infections to individual devices with Enterprise.
In addition, Syniverse, which is used for more than 900 mobile operators, cable and Internet providers, and enterprises in over 160 countries, has made two new points of presence (POP) for its IP Packet eXchange (IPX) network in Bangalore and Mumbai, India.
And VSS Monitoring was recently named the winner of Frost & Sullivan's (News - Alert) 2012 Global Competitive Strategy Leadership Award in the network packet broker market. It was recognized for technical innovation, differentiated products and cost savings.
