Aryaka (News - Alert), the world’s first cloud-based WAN optimization as-a-Service solution, announced that Methven Limited [MVN], a leading New Zealand shower and tap ware designer, experienced dramatically faster application response times upon connecting the New Zealand headquarters with its expanding support and sales office in the United Kingdom using Aryaka’s optimized network.
This move saves the company thousands of dollars by eliminating up-front hard costs, as well as ongoing maintenance costs, both of which are traditionally required with complex WAN optimization appliances and MPLS links.
Initially, the company wanted to deploy a single Microsoft (News - Alert) Dynamics AX ERP system across all subsidiaries worldwide. With multiple operations around the globe, however, the company needed a resilient link enabling fast application response times globally.
This was particularly important for a UK sales and distribution team seeking access to centralized applications using the Microsoft Desktop Protocol (RDP) which was hosted over 12,000 miles away in New Zealand. Since Methven found WAN optimization appliances and global MPLS too costly and complex to fit within the confines of its budget, the company then reached out to Aryaka for a solution.
Alan Henderson, Methven’s Information Systems Manager said, “With our precious capital and limited technical resources, we didn’t want to pay for big fat pipes or extra hardware to optimize our WAN.”
For half the cost, Aryaka resolved Methven’s issues of high latency and with its innovative solution, made it possible for the company to roll out its ERP and other applications across the group in a cost-effective and simplified manner.
Henderson added that they are happy to see over 90 percent compression rates on both MSSQL and Print JetDirect, and that they are particularly pleased with how easy it is to hook other remote sites into the network.
