Aviat (News - Alert) Networks, Inc., an expert in microwave networking solutions, is providing comprehensive spares management services in addition to its AviatCare services to MTN (News - Alert) Ghana, a subsidiary of pan-Africa mobile telecom leader MTN Group.
The company is providing Africa's leading mobile telecom operator with critical parts replacement to maximize network availability.
Officials with Aviat Networks said that AviatCare supports Aviat's Eclipse Packet Node radios that comprise the highest proportion of MTN Ghana's microwave backhaul, and plays a crucial role from the access portion of the network to the backbone. Aviat has supplied Eclipse equipment to MTN Ghana since 2007.
"Aviat has proven itself as a major network services SLA provider for wireless network transmission equipment, and we are pleased with their level of expertise and performance," said Sa-id Mukhtar Abubakar, SLA enforcement controller, network group, MTN Ghana, in a statement. "We are confident that with this new relationship with Aviat, our infrastructure management will be enhanced to provide seamless delivery of voice and data services to our cherished subscribers.”
Company officials pointed out that the company also provides the ProVision Element Management System to support network visibility in order for MTN Ghana to monitor and manage its Eclipse microwave backhaul network.
Aviat Networks’ ProVision Element Management System is advanced network intelligence for the demands of upscaled and expanding networks, superior to any EMS available on the market today. Its unique feature set supports increasing network complexity with automation of network operations. By leveraging Aviat Networks’ innovative microwave systems, ProVision maximizes network availability and throughput while significantly reducing OPEX (News - Alert).
ProVision delivers network management across the full Aviat product portfolio, key partner products and many third party SNMP-based platforms. It provides efficient, seamless end-to-end network management solution for TDM, Ethernet, and hybrid microwave networks.
"Over the course of three months, AviatCare support professionals visited more than 900 MTN Ghana sites to ensure network visibility to ProVision by checking all critical equipment cabling," said Deon Meyer, Aviat Networks' Ghana country manager.
