TraceSpan (News - Alert) Communications, specializing in broadband analysis and monitoring solutions, unveiled a bonding solution for eight downstream channels and four upstream channels, in its DOCSIS Xpert 5300 analyzer.

Dr. Hanan Herzberg, TraceSpan founder and CEO said, “Since its launch in late 2011, DOCSIS Xpert received excellent market acceptance and has been purchased by a number of MSOs and manufacturers. Now, as MSOs are looking to offer more bandwidth over their DOCSIS 3.0 networks, they need a tool to test the 8x4 bonding configuration, which is becoming widely used in their networks.”

“DOCSIS Xpert’s enhancement to support 8 downstream channels addresses this need extremely well, expands its capabilities even further and makes it the most comprehensive DOCSIS testing tool in the market today,” Herzberg added.

According to officials, the DOCSIS Xpert serves as an optimized protocol analyzer, providing full visibility into the DOCSIS network and equipment covering detailed network topology. It also includes complete and accurate analysis for the troubleshooting of DOCSIS product performance, standard compliance and interoperability.

DOCSIS Xpert also captures and analyzes signals without using a DOCSIS chipset. It does not affect data transfer between the CMTS and the CMs. Its multi-layer probing capability delivers comprehensive DOCSIS 3.0 PHY and MAC layer analysis simultaneously from multiple upstream and downstream bonded channels.

DOCSIS Xpert already supports both DOCSIS 3.0 and EuroDOCSIS 3.0 and legacy DOCSIS and EuroDOCSIS 2.0, 1.1 and 1.0. The DOCSIS Xpert’s intuitive user interface offers information for the physical layer, MAC layer and upper layer protocols.

This lets users monitor and troubleshoot their DOCSIS equipment and networks cost effectively.

The new DOCSIS Xpert systems offer support for the 8x4 bonding configuration as an optional feature. This can be added to existing systems too by buying additional software and hardware modules. TraceSpan’s customers will benefit greatly from the full 8x4 bonding capabilities in their testing environment, explained officials.

In December 2012, TraceSpan introduced a new version of the GPON Xpert analyzer, which consists of embedded support for TR-069. GPON Xpert from TraceSpan offers a comprehensive and accurate analysis of G-PON product performance, standard compliance and interoperability. Users get all these facilities without utilizing any G-PON chipset.
