Network packet brokers are extremely important in a day and age where you hear about even the largest corporations be attacked by cyber terrorists. This next-generation platform has the ability to immediately alert IT administrators in regards to issues in real-time as they arise as well as increase the efficiency of existing toolsets companies are already leveraging.

This week in the rapidly growing space, it was revealed that for organizations out there that have yet to implement this solution into their infrastructure, it is vital to attend an upcoming webinar titled, “Cyber Barbarians at the Gate! Strategies for 21st Century Network Security Fortifications” slated to take place on Wednesday, February 20, 2013 2:00 p.m. EDT. TMC’s very own Senior Editor Peter Bernstein in conjunction with VSS Monitoring’s (News - Alert) Director of Product Management Gordon Beith and Senior Product Manager Leena Merciline will be highlighting topics that surround the immediate need for organizations to put advanced network security procedures in place.

Some of these areas to be discussed include best practices in regard to how to leverage products to eliminate the chance of a cyber attack, what is needed to drive link-layer network visibility across all environments to near 100 percent, and key performance acceleration tools that can be attained for a cost-effective price.

Everyone from network administrators, network engineering CIO’s and chief information security officers to software and systems architects are strongly encouraged to attend this not-to-miss event that comes complete with a live Q&A segment and provides attendees with their very own copy of the “Network Packet Brokers for Dummies” E-book, free of charge.

In other news, Qosmos (News - Alert), a provider of Deep Packet Inspection (DPI) and network packet broker solutions, inked a strategic alliance with Clavister (News - Alert). Clavister is known for powering an array of robust and extremely intuitive security gateway solutions.

In line with the agreement, Clavister will seamlessly integrate Qosmos’ network intelligence offering coined ixEngine into its own products, helping customers gain access to a much higher level of control within their network that could help to protect them from threats now and in the future.

According to John Vestberg, CEO of Clavister, “The partnership with Qosmos also means that we can focus all our resources on enriching our security portfolio, while relying on Qosmos for network intelligence technology and continuous updates of protocol signatures and metadata.”

Closing out the week, NetApp, a storage and data management specialist, officially debuted its FAS/V6220, FAS6250 and FAS6290 high-end storage systems. These products are touted as enabling organizations in nearly every industry to streamline overall operations as well as bring network performance to a much higher level.

When customers implement NetApp’s suite, ROI can be seen in a much shorter period of time and infrastructures will never go down due to being overburdened by newly introduced applications.
