Celcite Reaches New Milestone with COPS-SON Deployment Across 20,000 Node Bs

Celcite Management Solutions has been successful in reaching a new mile stone by deploying its COPS-SON automated platform in a multi-vendor environment across several mobile network markets covering almost 20,000 Node Bs.

According to the company, COPS- SON is a centralised self-optimising solution that activates autonomous network configuration changes in real- time to maximize the network potential of today’s complex HetNets. It is the ultimate multi-vendor, multi-technology network maximization solution complete with dynamic coverage and capacity management of legacy and new technologies.

“COPS-SON was launched in the fourth quarter of 2012, and it is proving to be the solution that mobile network operators had been waiting for,” said Ajay Khanna, CTO and SVP of Engineering at Celcite.

Khanna said that the COPS multi-technology platform rapidly captures all the necessary data to manage SON, and then applies a range of proven SON techniques to provide the operators with the efficiency improvements they require.

Additionally, the in-built dynamic and autonomous closed loop actions of COPS-SON enable self-configuration, self-optimisation, and self-healing of networks with no human interaction. SON feature policies include ANR (Automatic Neighbour Relation), LB (Load Balancing), SH (Self-Healing), APO (Automatic Parameter Optimisation) and a Plug-and-Play module for self-configuration when a new site is deployed.

COPS-SON makes use of smart Extraction, Transformation, and Load (ETL) engines to capture the raw data fast and provide it to the remote location. These ETL engines, combined with a fast algorithm and executor, ensure that necessary changes are implemented within 15 – 30 minutes of any event.

Celcite’s officials confirmed that Ericsson (News - Alert), Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN), and Huawei are among the 3G infrastructure vendors who will be supported across the current deployments.
