As companies continue to invest in next generation networks, a key component of ensuring they remain fully protected while seeing a better return on investment and higher level of efficiency is a network packet broker. Commonly referred to by its acronym NPB, this robust product significantly enhances not only the security but also the monitoring of corporate infrastructures.

This week in the space, Celcite Management Solutions revealed that is had successfully deployed its COPS-SON automated platform throughout various mobile network markets, covering almost 20,000 Node Bs.

The intuitive platform was designed from the ground up to fully automate network configuration changes in real- time. This in turn will enable users to capitalize on the capabilities powered via their infrastructure as well as seamlessly integrate new technologies with ease as they make their way to market.

“COPS-SON was launched in the fourth quarter of 2012, and it is proving to be the solution that mobile network operators had been waiting for,” added Ajay Khanna, CTO and SVP of Engineering at Celcite.

In other news, as the amount of data being transferred through these infrastructures continues to increase, network analysts are being forced to reconsider which tools they need to protect their company from different types of cyber attacks. And that is exactly where Narus’ (News - Alert) newly unveiled Narus nSystem comes in play, helping IT administrators enhance their capabilities related to thwarting cyber threats once and for all.

The product can quickly browse through a variety of data in addition to highlighting potential threats from the very start.

“Securing and managing our current networked world requires the visibility, control and context that can only come with the application of machine learning to cyber security and surveillance,” said John Trobough, the newly appointed president of Narus. “The Narus nSystem is the industry's only solution that can deliver this, and subsequently protect our critical assets and our future.”

Closing out the week, a strategic alliance was inked between Damballa and Nominum (News - Alert) with the goal of enhancing both companies’ security suites and assisting network professionals in more closely drilling into the safety of the overall organization.

The collaborative effort will yield a much more in depth view into activities taking place with a network, eliminating the chance of a business being hacked by a crafty cyber terrorist.
