If you wish to run a successful business over a long period of time that remains fully protected from cyber attacks as well as has a network that is safe from downtime, you may want to seriously consider investing in a network packet broker and fast. This robust product, known as an NPB for short, can dramatically enhance the performance of any toolset currently in use within a corporate environment in addition to heightening the level of security.

This week in the space, Net Optics (News - Alert), a provider of network performance management (NPM), network packet broker, virtual/cloud and visibility management system (VMS) solutions, officially debuted its Security-Centric SDN security monitoring solution.

With the goal of eliminating the catastrophic consequences that can occur due to today’s cyber attacks, this solution is highlighted for powering real-time network intelligence for peak performance in network monitoring and security. The company also recently added its Flex Tap product to its portfolio, the first network tap on the market to reach the 100G milestone.

In other news, Optelian (News - Alert) launched its Packet Optical Networking solution that can measure up to increasing demands coming from packet-based service delivery. Based upon the FLEX architecture, it can deliver services from access to core, passive to packet and 100M to 100G which will assist operators attempting to optimize network capacity.

"Intuitive Packet Optical Networking combines the advantages of packet networking with WDM, OTN, ROADM (News - Alert) and TDM transport, to enable Service-Driven Networking," said Optelian CEO David Weymouth. "We are changing the game by simplifying provisioning and management of services across these technologies. You provision the network by simply defining services. No Ph.D. required!"

Closing out the week, Rural NetCo Ltd, a Tanzanian-based communications company, deployed the Polystar (News - Alert) network and quality assurance solution to improve telecommunications services in rural parts of Africa. Within the company’s suite are several crucial capabilities that telecom companies heavily rely upon including: service assurance, network monitoring and test solutions.

Fredrik Hultner, regional sales director at Polystar, said, “Rural NetCo is one of our most exciting projects for us in Africa so far. It is amazing to observe the difference the quality of mobile networks brings and the impact of it to the local markets and economy. We see this project as an outstanding start for a long-term partnership to support Rural NetCo in their business and future growth.”

Additionally, the Rural NetCo high-speed shared mobile broadband access network is helping operators in Africa to raise the bar on the overall customer experience as multiple functions can be accessed via a single network.
