These days, network packet brokers (NPB) are key to a corporate network running at the height of optimization as well as remaining fully protected from an array of cyber attacks. As you read the daily news of the day, it is hard to ignore the countless stories about huge enterprises being targeted by cyber criminals, just one of the many reasons why the NPB space is growing rapidly.

This week in the industry, it was revealed that cPacket Networks has formed a strategic alliance with Spirent (News - Alert). The goal of the newly formed partnership is to enable Spirent to enhance the capabilities powered via its Ethernet network testing suite to incorporate cPacket (News - Alert) innovations that can yield real-time traffic aggregation/de-aggregation as well as advanced packet filtering.

“High-speed network infrastructure, data centers, and cloud computing are growing markets in which network and service reliability are critical to ensuring user satisfaction and maintaining SLAs, are important and growth markets,” said Sean Yarborough, senior director of strategy and business development at Spirent, in a statement. “cPacket’s real-time inspection, monitoring, and aggregation capabilities combined with Spirent expertise in data center and cloud computing testing ensures that we are offering the best solution to address customers’ needs.”

As more and more businesses all over the globe seek reliable solutions to drive network visibility and performance monitoring of their corporate infrastructures, collaborations like the one mentioned above will help consumers see every single action taking place on their network, allowing them to quickly fix small problems before they become major issues. In turn, this could eliminate the chance of network downtime something that could be catastrophic for any organization.

In other news, Equinix (News - Alert), a large International business exchange (IBX) interconnection data center and global colocation services provider, recently selected BTI's data center-optimized packet optical solution to ramp up visibility into everything taking place within its infrastructure.

The product powers both packet and optical service delivery in a single offering, allowing for an ultra high level of network-layer consolidation. It will be used primarily within Equinixs’ data centers in Singapore to meet the increasing demands related to deploying a variety of robust cloud services.

According to Steven Waszak, CEO and president of the network technology company BTI Systems (News - Alert), the BTI 7000 unit will help the facilities in Singapore to manage all of their sites’ data as well as offer these Equinix branches a multilayer solution to simplify operations and accelerate the flow of data while significantly reducing network latency.

Closing out the week, APCON (News - Alert), a company well known for its intelligent network monitoring and security support solutions, officially debuted the INTELLATAP 8 port tap that comes complete with advanced on-board monitoring services. The next-generation solution offers expanded data analysis and storage features across all of APCON’s monitoring switches as well.
