Because IP networks depend on network intelligence tools to ensure high levels of performance with secure connection, several new analytical tools and infrastructure services were introduced this past week in the network packet broker space.

To enable enterprise developers leverage public clouds for developing and testing replicas of on-premises production environments, Ravello Systems launched its software-as-a-service (SaaS) solution. With Ravello, developers can spin up as many instances of the application as they need for testing in Amazon Web Services (AWS), Rackspace (News - Alert) or HP cloud and need not worry about running out of capacity.

To help organizations protect their infrastructure against misuse and direct threats, both internally and externally, CSC (News - Alert) has expanded its managed security services. CSC’s new Horizon solution streamlines the governance, risk and compliance (GRC) process for businesses by integrating data and reporting from existing cyber- security controls into one easy-to-understand view. This solution can be changed according to enterprise dashboard that enables clients with real-time continuous monitoring of their cyber security status through the use of vulnerability analysis, exploit discovery, threat remediation and recovery services. According to CSC, it’s global network of security operations centers is managing CSC’s Horizon service.

In other news, IT infrastructure services provider NTT (News - Alert) has unveiled a new MPLS-grade NTel VPN, a cost-effective network connectivity solution that looks and feels just like a higher-grade MPLS solution, but is Internet-driven to reduce costs, as well as expanded its NTel Ops automated infrastructure management service. The report shows that the MPLS-grade NTel VPN, with the backing of NTel Ops service, now supports full IT outsourcing. Also, the NTel VPN’s full-mesh network capability and QoS functionality ensures cost-effective and quick-to-install connectivity. NTT said that by expanding the device range of NTel Ops, the company is now capable of driving a fuller suite of efficiencies in IT departments of varying sizes and operations.

Similarly, Secure Enterprise Computing introduced new bundled services programs for financial services and the healthcare industry. The new SecurePAK for financial services and SecurePAK for healthcare comprise a wide range of technology and services designed to ensure best practices and full compliance in their respective verticals. This service was initially created for PCI (News - Alert) clients and has been highly successful with retail clients with credit card compliance requirements.

Lastly, NEC’s new technology allows it to estimate transmission speed across Internet and mobile networks faster and with less memory consumption than previous methods. The new method only takes about 10 kilobytes of data and less than one second to perform. This allows technicians to adjust traffic in response to network performance more quickly.
