With customers demand for better and faster services not slowing, service providers continued to streamline their services with the addition of leading-edge products and solutions. Meanwhile, threats and warnings continued to be sent to users this past week as the Network Packet Broker community continued on its path to enhance network security capabilities.

To deliver faster speeds and greater network coverage to its more than 700,000 subscribers, high-speed Internet, cable TV, and phone services provider WOW! selected the ARRIS E6000 converged edge router (CER). The supplier said that ARRIS E6000 CER continues the highly successful legacy of the C4 CMTS and delivers new levels of density and cost-effectiveness for high-density markets in a simple, robust integrated architecture. Plus, it offers high availability, high performance solution with high scalability.

Likewise, WOW! Said that ARRIS E6000 CER enables the company to deliver popular services to meet customers' needs with the assurance that it will grow and evolve with WOW! as it  continues to deliver new experiences in the future.

The latest victim of computer hacking has been the well known PDF brand Adobe (News - Alert). According to a TMCnet report, similar breaches have occurred at Dunn & Bradstreet, LexisNexis and Kroll Background America. “With a company like Adobe, whose products touch nearly every personal computing device that opens and reads a PDF, everyone is at risk,” wrote TMCnet contributing editor Susan J. Campbell. The report suggests that it is time for companies to deploy next level of protection, such as network packet broker, to keep the hackers out and data safe.

In other news, security software developer Privacyware released a new version of its free PC security product, the Privatefirewall. The software update supports 32 and 64 bit versions of Windows 8 and 8.1, 7, Vista, and Server 2012, 2008/R2 as well as 32 bit versions of XP and Server 2003. Windows Web servers and personal computers. Offering a multi-layer protection scheme for Windows OS, it is designed to protect Windows PCs from hackers, viruses, trojans and zero-day attacks.

Lastly, at the recently concluded Microsoft (News - Alert) Cloud OS Launch event, 5nine Software  revealed  a new generation of security and management products for Microsoft Hyper-V.  The company reported that its Security Manager is purpose-built to make use of the Hyper-V extensible switch components to filter network traffic and deliver anti-malware protection.
