GL Communications (News - Alert) Inc., a supplier of test, monitoring and analysis equipment for TDM, wireless, IP and VoIP networks, has recently announced the latest version of its PacketExpert network tester with new, enhanced features.
PacketExpert is a network tester that comes with four electrical ports and two optical ports. These ports make it possible for the device to test both electrical and optical fiber lines. It can be used to test a range of applications such as BERT and Loopback. Moreover, the company explained, this device can double up as an analysis tool for testing Ethernet LANs and WANs at 10 Mbps, 10 Mbps and 1Gbps speeds.
The latest version of PacketExpert comes with two additional features – Wire Speed Capture and Playback. The Wire Speed Capture feature helps to measure bit error rates on layer 1, MPLS, UDP (News - Alert) and IP layers. It also supports a range of different PBRS patterns, including standard and user-defined. In additional, it comes with many flexible options that make it possible for users to test using different BERT and Loopback combinations, depending on the testing needs of users.
The other important feature in the latest version is Playback. Using this feature, it is possible to record incoming packets to files and then transmit these packets at wire speed. This feature gives users the choice to capture real-world communication and simulate it as needed. This feature comes with four different options to suit the needs of different testing scenarios.
Both features are expected to enhance the capability of PacketExpert in a big way. It is hoped that this product, with its new features, will have a big positive impact on the future of telecommunications industry.
