CA Technologies (News - Alert) recently announced a new version of the CA Network Flow Analysis. Based on next-generation technology from Cisco, the CA Network Flow Analysis will offer application-centric insights to IT organizations. Using these insights, IT organizations will be able to quickly identify anomalies, enhance their service levels while simultaneously lowering their operational costs. These topics regarding IT departments among others will be discussed with some of the best in the business, today, Wednesday Jan. 29, at the “2014: IT Priorities, Realities and Fictions” conference during the ITEXPO in Miami, Florida.

In a release, John Smith, general manager, infrastructure management, CA Technologies said, “Enterprise IT organizations that don’t aggressively evolve their ability to manage their networks from an application-centric perspective will inevitably wind up throwing too many staff-hours at service-level assurance and getting too little in return. With CA Network Flow Analysis, customers achieve far superior results with less work—significantly enhancing IT’s overall ability to deliver more value to the business.”

CA Network Flow Analysis has been designed to automatically identify more than 1,000 applications. This helps in providing network managers with an enhanced visibility into traffic patterns of application and their behavior. Using the solution, network managers will also find it easier to create custom profiles for their organization applications. Benefits of the solution include the ability to accurately find active or potential issues pertaining to service delivery; easier planning and validation of resource required for new applications; optimize the process of utilizing network resources; and ability to avoid any infrastructure costs that are unnecessary.

The CA Network Flow Analysis solution builds on these capabilities using patented anomaly detection; it studies the network over a period of time and then automatically identifies and creates alarms for a number of anomalies which have a direct impact on performance and or can lead to security risks. This allows IT to effectively secure all critical service levels without having to invest heavily in network troubleshooting solutions.

Christian Remer Leiter, Product Management APM at T-Systems (News - Alert) said, “Application-centric network monitoring has historically required us to associate applications with known ports, but that approach is becoming untenable as more applications use HTTP and dynamic ports. By giving us the insight we need without depending on known ports, CA Network Flow Analysis is enabling us to stop finger-pointing and quickly resolve network-related performance issues as they arise.”

CA Network Flow Analysis has been based on Cisco (News - Alert)'s AVC (Application Visibility and Control) and the NBAR2 (Next Generation Network-Based Application Recognition) technology solutions. Together these technologies work to reduce network troubleshooting complexities while also effectively combining detection and analysis of traffic for these applications.
