Westell Technologies: Remote Monitoring of Critical Infrastructure Now a Breeze

Imagine what it would be like if critical infrastructure in power sites, substations and the like malfunctioned and no emergency plan existed. The consequences would be disastrous. While preparedness should be a part of any recovery maneuver, being able to always keep a finger on the pulse of a site and its equipment would ensure that things never reach a point of 'no return.' Remote monitoring, according to Westell Technologies (News - Alert) is the key.

To enable that to happen, the provider of intelligent site and outside plant solutions, has released the  Kentrox Optima Management System version 11 with new added functionality and downloadable mobile applications for iOS and Android (News - Alert) systems.

Optima is touted to be an intelligent management solution that simplifies monitoring, management and control of critical infrastructure, and the release of Optima 11 ensures support for the recently released Kentrox (News - Alert) Remote RMC-700 site management device and also support for native iOS and Android devices.

RMC-700 is stated to enhance a tower operator’s network management strategy, reduce operating costs, and improve operational efficiency and supports two Kentrox applications, whereas the company's remote suite of products present a wide range of options for any number of applications.

No two site environments are alike; hence each need different kind of support services to help minimize downtime and maximize performance. Depending on the different needs, Kentrox has different support options.

So, whether it's the power generators that have to be checked or started, fuel to be checked or the carbon emissions to be monitored, the Optima Management System sees to it that things are under control and takes corrective action whenever required.

The patent pending Optima mobile applications are available for Optima 11.x users from virtually any iOS and Android device and can be downloaded from the Apple (News - Alert) app store and the Google store.
