VSS Monitoring Unveils New Solution for Scalable, Best-in-class Enterprise Security

The architecture of enterprise networks can impede the network visibility of security tools. And adding, removing, as well as upgrading security tools can create network latency or take down a network entirely. To address that, VSS Monitoring (News - Alert) has come out with a solution that decouples the security layer from the network layer, allowing security teams to add, upgrade or remove security tools from the network without impacting network availability or performance.

“Security systems need to scale out to address the threats on networks that are growing faster than ever before,” says Andrew Harding, VSS Monitoring’s vice president of product management.

The new VSS Monitoring System Software 3.3, which is being unveiled this week at the RSA (News - Alert) event, gives network technicians the ability to scale out firewalls and intrusion detection and prevention systems by adding a layer in the network that allows people to use whatever tools they want without having to add ports or make other changes to the network, or impacting performance on the network.

That’s benefit to enterprises not only because it allows them to scale in regards to security, but also because it allows them to chain together different systems so they can use best-in-class security tools without the complexity of putting together all the pieces on their own, Harding explains.

System 3.3 can balance traffic loads across multiple security systems (on up to 16 ports) to avoid overloading tools. With the release of 3.3, VSS Monitoring supports 40gbps networks.

VSS Monitoring also addresses big data with this solution. The solution captures, and port- and time-stamps data, and puts it in a standard format so it’s ready for storage.

The solution, which can act as an active or passive element in the network, is available now and varies in price based on configuration.
