Siemens (News - Alert) AG recently announced the continuation of its partnership with Orange Business Services. The contract extension and expansion calls for Orange’s continued management of a global MPLS-based Wide Area Network (WAN) connecting 1,500 sites in 90 countries on 5 continents. This network is designed to enable Siemens’ fully leverage cloud services and applications, voice over IP and telepresence, and to improve the support of its business processes.
In a statement, Dr. Norbert Kleinjohann, CIO at Siemens, said, “As a globally operating company with offices all over the world, we need a reliable and sustainable communication network that is a critical business enabler and can evolve with our business. We chose Orange Business Services (News - Alert) because of their ability to deliver seamless Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) network coverage worldwide in combination with high security standards, quality of service, local support and an attractive price-performance ratio. We also appreciate their flexibility and good cooperation.”
The Siemens WAN expansion will require Orange Business Services to complete the migration of 470 sites in 26 countries in addition to the existing 1,030 sites in 69 countries that have been effectively managed by Orange for Siemens since 2009. With the help of virtual teams and teleworkers collaborating around the globe, Orange Business Services aims to further reduce network complexity and boost network performance and agility. Orange will also provide Siemens with a dedicated single point of contact service desk and local presence in 166 countries, ensuring that Siemens receives premium managed network services.
Dr. Helmut Reisinger, senior vice president, Orange Business Services Europe, Russia & CIS, said, “We are pleased to have been chosen by Siemens to migrate 470 additional sites and to continue to manage its critical global communications infrastructure. As a company with a pioneering role in terms of technology, Siemens set high benchmarks for this project.”
