CounterACT Remote Control is ForeScout's Solution to Monitoring Remote Devices
March 03, 2014
Today’s businesses use mobile devices and BYOD practices to take their work to new heights, allowing employees to stay connected with their work no matter where they are and for much lower costs thanks to the fact that employees own the devices, not the business. However, there is always a struggle between accessibility and security. If the settings are too strict, employees can’t have access to the tools they need and their work is slowed down significantly. If security is too lax, malicious hackers can potentially gain access to corporate networks and steal sensitive company information or compromise customer details.
ForeScout Technologies, Inc., a major player in network security solutions around the world, made plans for the CounterAct RemoteControl platform on February 24th, which promises to give IT organizations the tools needed to monitor and enforce BYOD policies on remote devices. The platform continuously monitors and reinforces endpoint security for devices whether or not they are actively engaged with the corporate network and grants visibility into the usage of BYOD mobile devices for IT teams. The RemoteControl also features granular, flexible policies that let users know exactly when they are connecting or disconnecting from a network, and seeks to eliminate threats before they become a problem and connect to the network in the first place.
By 2015, almost a third of the world’s total workforce will be considered mobile workers, whether they work from home full-time or only perform routine maintenance from home. Because of this, it is increasingly important to monitor a remote workforce when hackers could potentially use their devices as a gateway to corporate networks. As ForeScout CEO Gord Boyce says, “Our customers are initially stunned to learn the number and types of devices actually on their networks and, more so, the extent of non-compliant devices accessing network issues.” With ForeScout’s CounterAct RemoteControl, companies should be able to easily manage which devices have what access and ultimately increase security levels.
