OiDViEW has recently released Trap Manager, which brings enterprise-level fault management capabilities to small and medium businesses.

OiDViEW reported that Trap Manager is a ready-to-use management software that is competitively priced with more functionality at a lesser price. After developing the program for years to be accessible for small and medium businesses, OiDViEW has emerged as a competitor to Solarwinds and What’s Up Gold. Trap Manager is a fully featured fault management solution and is the most powerful solution one can acquire under $250,000.

The company explained that the OidView Trap Manager can be used to capture alarms from any number of notification sources depending on users’ licensing option. This allows them to start small and purchase more IP license packs as their needs grow. It can capture alarms on a single network, from multiple networks, or it can be used to capture, filter, and forward from multiple networks using multiple nodes. It can filter and forward to other network management platforms such as HP OpenView, IBM Tivoli, or Micromuse (News - Alert) Netcool.

OidView Trap Manager is packed with a self-administrative technology that can automatically manage, clear, and delete alarms that are either too old or that go over a pre-set memory limit. For managers wishing to automate tasks, this feature can prove to be quite useful. It also features a de-duplication technology that, silences excess noise generated by a single device or from a specific set of events. These abilities were previously found only in expensive fault management solutions but now it is available in an affordable, “off the shelf”, easy to use software package specifically designed for SMBs.

The company added that there are 11,000+ different events that come preconfigured in the Trap Manager program, a feature typically found only in custom enterprise IT Monitoring solutions, and is a step up from competitor standard offerings that force users to create SNMP event profiles from scratch for their networks.
